This shoe was inspired by hip hop dancing. The Nike Air Troupe Mid took 2 years of research and development to make. The inspiration to make this shoe came from the observations that hip hop dancers loved to wear Nike shoes, , the Nike Dunk. The Nike designers invented a shoe with a style similar to the Dunk but made it more flexible. The forefoot had flex grooves for multidirectional forefoot flexibility. There is a flex notch in the forefoot upper. There is a Phylon outsole with rubber on the perimeter to help dancers do the slip and slide steps. This helps to do the cease after the dancer does the slide motion.
